We also did arts and craft activities including painting; growing sunflowers, step by step recipes, easy to cook healthy food with real life photos from Gemma; making a den; games; science experiments; and a whole lot more.
We kept in touch with families weekly via phone, text, What’sapp and email. We also did 3 mail drop offs to families and volunteers (posted or hand delivered) small items such as sunflower seeds, cress and other seeds, balloons, painting by numbers and foil art, hot chocolate sachets along with a hand drawn postcard and message from Home-Start.
We also shared or reposted lots of interesting things for families including; The Big Happiness Experiment; video sessions and Project me sessions; activities from NSPCC, Home-Start UK, My Step Challenge, basic sign language; Calming Kids techniques; how to make your own face covering; free online learning programmes from Dudley College and other sources.
Since early July, when some restrictions were lightened, we have been doing outdoor activities and meet ups, at several different parks and fields, with social distancing and hygiene rules in place. Apart from having a lovely chat with families, we have done: bug hunts, ball games, Sneyd Resevour Rambles (rain or shine) and Pokemon Hunt.
